Traveling with cash?

From pklim on 08.07.2018 at 20:07

We are in the middle of holiday period, what are your tips for paying abroad? Use your uae card? Cash? Withdraw cash abroad from atm?

Himanshu wrote on 09.08.2018 at 13:09

As cash can get cumbersome, I use ATM (UAE card) or use a card if the bank is offering a decent cash back to cover up for the unfavourable currency exchange rate. Which one works better?? Still not sure if I am doing the right thing. Is there a near perfect solution :)?

Travelling cashless - possible. How about travelling cardless!:)

Just landed in prague. Withdrew money using contactless atm... took a cab home using a uber-like app and paid through the app... bought flowers at a gas station...paidbwith a tap... if i just had a ‘card on my phone’ i would so far easily get by. :)

Best ticket booking sites

From pklim on 25.09.2017 at 23:05

Hi. I am looking for recommendations on what are the best flight booking sites in the uae? Also do you use different sites for different destinations? Do you book directly with the airline?

nicnic wrote on 22.10.2017 at 02:10

Skyscanner and cleartrip! browse all the airlines there with current promo fares. then gtbthe cheapest yet most convenient time of flight and travel time. Then compare it to the airlines’ website. but for great comfort. and convenience, book it directly on the airlines as they have complex options and conditions on the ticket that you booked. in case of any problem arise, you can directly raise your concern to the airline company and not on the flight booking site which airline will refer to you first beacuse you bought the ticket on a third party! they have different terms and co ditions and flight specifications.

You may also use www.google.com/flights for all airlines destinations and more

Flight delays can be fun?!

From WajihaS on 20.09.2017 at 12:19

I recently came across an article that talks about ease of access to VIP lounges and no claims process for passengers who experience flight delays. How cool do you think that would be?
It's an app that automatically sends an entry pass to your phone with no need to go through a claims process.

Has anyone experienced something of this sort through a card or an app?

pklim wrote on 22.12.2017 at 10:21

Wow. This is really interesting. When i get delayed and stuck at the airport i hate to ‘beg’ for food vouchers and blanket from the airline i am travelling with. If someone took care of me proactively it would be fantastic. Btw - know tour rights when you are serioualy delayed. You are typically entitled to overnight hotel stay, food, voucher to buy basic clothing in case of bag lost etc...

I'm traveling to Turkey soon (InshAllah). I want to stay in nice resorts/hotels. Is there any bank that offers discounts on hotels etc?

pklim wrote on 13.09.2017 at 21:20

Hey sunshine. I suggest you apply for adib booking.com card to get 10% discount on hotel bookings.

Serviced Appartments vs Hotels

From Zohair on 12.06.2017 at 11:23

Serviced apartments are fast becoming a popular choice for leisure and business travellers. These often outweigh regular hotels and AirBnB.
You get:
1. 24-hour concierge
2. Home comforts (e.g. Satellite TV, WIFI, Private Telephone)
3. A private fully-equipped kitchen where you can cook the food the way you want
4. Bespoke accommodation and experience e.g. you can call ahead and have items stocked before you arrive.
5. Privacy and freedom of your own home, you can invite guests over
6. Bigger space vs hotel room
7. Cost-effectiveness (Rates are per appartment rather than per person)
8. Security
9. Housekeeping
10. Welcome pack - often the appartment will be pre-stocked with necessary items like tea, coffee, toiletries, newspaper/magazines/guides

So think about staying in serviced appartments the next time you travel!

Hi Travellers! Welcome to this group. Looking forward for your tips and questions.

This is interesting. One thing we need to look at to keep our pockets going empty while traveling is the accommodation. I don't mind looking at bed and breakfast options while travelling. It even gives us the option to interact with local people.
